The 2011 Southern Gospel Predictions Contest: The Poll

What do you think will happen in our genre next year?

You submitted your nominations here. Now it’s time to cast your vote!

http://www.esurveyspro.com/Survey.aspx?id=9e803856-9988-4783-88da-3b8f2880f33f

Only one vote is permitted per person. If you really want to win—which is understandable, given these prizes—you may enlist family and friends to come over and vote for your / one of your predictions. Voting closes at midnight at the end of the day on Sunday; the results will be announced Monday morning.

From time to time over the next four days, I plan to comment here and offer an update on the vote totals; regrettably, this polling option does not permit live public stats.

  3. I assume we can’t vote for ourselves? 😉

    • Ah, but you may – and not only that, you may enlist any family and friends you may like in your cause. (They must, however, be visiting from separate computers.)

      • What if I’m so honest that I really feel somebody else’s prediction is more likely…? 😉

      • Shucks Terry, I should have made another prediction, but I forgot…

In 2011, quartet-man will make at least a dozen bad puns. 😀

      • Hey, this comment was supposed to go under q-man’s comment about the “fan” and the “chain.” I could have sworn I put it in the right place… odd.

      • Ha! No good blog comment goes un-meddled with bro!

Right comment – wrong thread 🙂

      • Well, then, be honest, by all means!

  4. Might I suggest Daniel, for reader-friendliness, posting only the items that actually have received votes? Or was there some other purpose I may have missed to posting the entire poll list?

    • Good point. I’ll do that with the second time around.

    • That Andrew S… why is he so doggone lucky? He knows everything and he’s always at the top of the pack in contests around the blogosphere—it’s just not fair! 🙂

      • It’s not luck here – he had to have good suggestions to attract the votes! 🙂

  6. Hey Daniel. I can not pull up the link to vote. Has anyone else had any trouble?

    • I’m sorry to hear this! You’re the first I’ve heard of.

      • I did get one “friend” who, not totally familiar with the blog thought you voted in the comment section – and so couldn’t find where to vote!

Maybe the Vote Link should be headlined?

        [just a thought Daniel!]

      • Good thinking!

      • Daniel,

Not sure if it my imagination, but the various entry pages seem tighter, and more can be seen on home page, also the red box round the picture is classy.

if you did a wee 2011 tweek – well it got noticed!

May the Lord bless all who visit here in 2011, and may the comment and debate be for His glory and the upholding of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Lord guide us all aright in the year ahead –

“I said to the man wh stood at the Gate of the Year,
Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.
And he replied, Go into the darkness and put your hand in the hand of God, that shall be to you better than light, and safer than a known way.”

        (Psalm 90:12)

      • I did some tweaks a couple of weeks ago; there was a period where we didn’t see you as much for a bit, so it might have been then.

      • David – I’ve never seen that in Psalm 90. What version are you using?

      • Wrong psalm David! Not sure which psalm that is, but it’s not 90, definitely.

      • LOL Guys!

Psalm 90:12 “So teach us to number our days….” was meant to be a supplementary thought!

The quote came to me in a New Year text message, so I thought I would pass it on.

The two thoughts were NOT meant to be connected – at least you guys checked the KJV out, maybe the Message too!! 🙂 🙂

      • Glad to have the clarification! 🙂

  8. Man, we should have been able to vote for more than one. Or at least another for-fun category of least likely! (Not complaining; I know things have to be like they have to be.)

I’m off work this week, so rarely on the computer. Y’all keep having fun!

    • Least likely sounds like a fun idea! If we do this contest again next year, please remind me. 🙂 Maybe we can even come up with a special prize for least likely. 🙂

I know only being able to vote for one makes it harder, but I was in the mood for giving y’all a challenge!

  9. I voted “present” on this poll!

  10. It took me a couple of days to think of anything original. I’ll be quite shocked if this happens, but at least it’s my idea and mine alone. :o)

A Southern Gospel group will release a video (either a single or long-form, but more likely a single) that’s shot in 3D.

    • That would be an incredible prediction – I just wish I’d have had it before the deadline to put it into the poll!

I think it’s possible – in 5 or 10 years. Southern Gospel always comes around to technological advances, but it’s just a couple of years slower than other genres.

    • Yes, I realize it’s too late to get in on the contest.

      • Oh, OK!

      • I started a thread at Southern Gospel Forums for late ideas like mine. Great topic, by the way.

        (EDIT: 8/5/2011: Broken link removed)

    • That could spawn a new product at the tables—3D glasses! 😮
