Update: The 2011 Southern Gospel Predictions poll ends today

(UPDATE, 3 PM: We have had two reports of the poll not working for an individual. If it does not work for you, email your pick to editor@southerngospeljournal.com; one vote per email address. We will trust to the honor system that you have not otherwise cast your vote.)

The voting for the 2011 Southern Gospel Predictions contest ends today; cast your vote if you haven’t yet!

5 votes:
  • Gaither: TaRanda Greene will become a featured vocalist on the Gaither Homecoming tour. (Andrew S)
4 votes:
  • Gaither: Bill Gaither will retire from a full-time singing position with the GVB, continuing as emcee and “Mr. Homecoming,” but announce details of “Last World Tour.” (David Mac)

3 votes:
  • Miscellaneous: The Collingsworths will be featured on the cover of Singing News (Andrew S)

1 vote:
  • Albums: The Inspirations will record a song that doesn’t fit their usual sound and it will be a major hit (think Kingsmen/Wish You Were Here). (Clarence Grigsby)
  • Albums: The Isaacs will record a tribute to Dottie Rambo project. (Meagan)
  • Albums: Guy Penrod will release his much-anticipated follow-up solo release (and Daniel will refuse to listen to it because it’s not 100% gospel in content…at least he won’t ADMIT to listening to it!) (Kyle)
  • Albums: Libbi Perry Stuffle will record a solo album. (Andrew S)
  • Gaither: Tim Riley will take over the bass slot with the GVB for at least one year. (David Mac)
  • Gaither: The Alaskan Homecoming/Majesty dvds (Gaither) will debut at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100. (Andrew S)
  • Group changes: The Bishops will Re-Unite but Phil Cross will sing the baritone, (2 great song writers in the group, might compete with Greater Vision) (sourceofpower)
  • Group changes: Tim Riley, once retired, will join Mercy’s Mark for a few select dates
  • Group changes: Mike Hopper will sing full-time. (Andrew S)
  • Group changes: The Epleys will become a major group, except without Jon. (Samuel)

  • Miscellaneous: The Mark Trammell Quartet will join Legacy Five, Booth Brothers, and Greater Vision in “Jubilee.” (Garms Family was the first with this one)
  • NQC: At the NQC, another conservative politician will make an appearance. (The Gospel Stache)
  • Singing News Fan Awards: The Booth Brothers will not “sweep” their respective vocal parts for the Fan Awards (obviously, favorite bass not included). (The Gospel Stache)
  • Singing News Fan Awards: Amber Thompson will win Young Artist. (David)
  • Singing News Fan Awards: “Love Came Calling” will be the 2011 Song of the Year. (Andrew S)
  • Vague, obvious, tongue-in-cheek, or impossible to quantify: Southern Gospel Blog is gonna have a record number of readers/hits during 2011. (Robert York)
  • Vague, obvious, tongue-in-cheek, or impossible to quantify: Tim Greene will come back on the road for a limited schedule. (David)
  • Vague, obvious, tongue-in-cheek, or impossible to quantify: I predict that even more groups will adopt the super-produced sound of Lari Goss, and the sound will be very similar to so many others who have done it before. (Jim)
All other options have 0 votes.

  1. If you haven’t voted yet . . . two other predictions have joined the prediction that has been running ahead from the start, and things are suddenly a whole lot tighter at the top. So vote! 🙂

    • Oh, and we have had two reports of the poll not working for an individual. If it does not work for you, email your pick to editor@southerngospeljournal.com; one vote per email address. We will trust to the honor system that you have not otherwise cast your vote. 🙂
