Southern Gospel Journal welcomes letters to the editor. We will post the most thoughtful and insightful submissions. Ground rules: Don't attack or belittle groups or fellow posters, or advance heresies rejected by orthodox Christianity. Do keep comments positive, constructive, and on topic.
  1. What is this Greater Vision project? Certainly by the title this isn’t the project of new songs they’ve been working on in the studio. But I was not aware of any other recording they were doing. Is it a compilation of some sort?

    • No, it’s a different project.

      • Hmmm…they’ve been busier than I thought. Or maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention. Regardless, I have another CD to get this month!

      • No – an email from Daywind was the first I’d heard of it.

      • The Greater Vision project is basically a hymns project, but with a twist! It was recorded with the GV guys plus Gene McDonald on bass, all around 1 mic and Stan Whitmire playing the piano. Very authentic, very real…it’s going to be a must-have project! A portion of the proceeds will go to the SGMA as well!

      • Thanks! I can’t wait to hear it!

      • Woo-hoo! Wow!! I can’t believe it! I wish I had money!!!

      • Well, now that is quite thrilling. And to think this is the first any of us have heard anything about it!

  2. I don’t see the Kingsmen or Gold City on this list. 🙁

    • This only covers 2 months out of the 12 in a year!

  3. I’m not sure if it counts or not, the old paths have a new one out that can be downloaded right now from their site. I believe it will be just a table project.

    • It counts if there’s a release date falling within this month or next! 🙂

  4. I had originally heard the “new” GV project would be released in June, but Daywind already has it up being released for 7/5/11. link is here…http://www.daywindrecords.com/artists.php?id=7

It’s obviously not for sale yet, but you can read the song listing.

    • I didn’t know until now that they have recorded “Heaven Can’t Be Far Away” for the new CD. I love the version from The King Came Down.

      • The King Came Down has really become one of the classic projects of our time. I know “Far Beyond This Place” solidified them at the top, but within 2 years of GV’s inception, and you come out with that? I hope every GV fan owns it.

  5. I think it’s worth noting that the Jubilee 2 DVD, which was scheduled to be released in March but was delayed due to production issues, is now available on Greater Vision’s website. Hopefully Legacy Five and the Booth Brothers will be following suit shortly.

  6. Yea, i got my Jubillee 2 DVD yesterday, i am really enjoying it. I watched it 2 or 3 times already!

  7. When will be released Kingsmen and Gold City new projects?
