19 Letters to the Editor

Southern Gospel Journal welcomes letters to the editor. We will post the most thoughtful and insightful submissions. Ground rules: Don't attack or belittle groups or fellow posters, or advance heresies rejected by orthodox Christianity. Do keep comments positive, constructive, and on topic.
  1. Nice jingle… Is that new?

    • Thanks! No, it’s been on the last few.

The Garms Family, contributors here, came up with the idea, and pulled it off.

By the way, their second-youngest, Jayme, was the one to pull off the dizzyingly high note at the end. (She appeared last week in this post: https://www.southerngospeljournal.com/archives/12597 ). I was impressed!

    • Thanks, Andrew. It was fun to put the jingle together and we hope it adds a nice touch to SGB videos. 🙂

  2. The video won’t play for me and is suggesting that I become a Vimeo Plus member.

“The creator of this video has not given you permission to embed it on this domain.

This is a Vimeo Plus feature.”

    • Aargh; how are you viewing this post? Windows/Mac desktop/laptop, Droid phone, iPhone, iPad?

      • I refreshed, but no good. I’m using Mac and Safari. I’ll jump on Firefox or Chrome and see.

      • Vimeo must just be buggy today. I flipped some switches, temporarily until it’s fixed its bugs, and it should be working now.

    • Mine was telling me that, but I refreshed the page, and it worked. Try that.

      • I like Vimeo’s quality over competitors’, but they can be buggy once in a while!

  3. It’s working fine for me now. Though, I’m regretting it now seeing that I hate doing interviews, especially video, lol.

Also, we were really trying to keep this on the down low, but now all of you are well aware of James’ ability to teleport, as seen at the end of the verse on He Is Mine.

    • You did great, but I can do audio instead next time. 🙂

  4. Sounded great! David it’s true, you’ve got a “Trammell”esque sound on that 2nd verse of He Is Mine…look forward to hearing it!

  5. David, you knew we had to watch it! 🙂 You did a great job with the interview, and we especially loved the part when Gerald Wolfe yelled (it completely scared us at first!). 😀

It was great to meet/see y’all this weekend. God has great things in store for Promise! Hope to see y’all again soon.

    • “y’all” … Southern Gospel is rubbing off! 🙂

      • Well, when you’re at a Southern Gospel sing for the weekend and are among Southerners, you can’t help but say “y’all”! (Actually, we’ve been talking with Southern accents all weekend, too!) 🙂

      • Authentic ones? Full-blown? Or just “y’all”?

The true / authentic Southerners tell me I sound nothing like a Southern yet, and they say that as though it was a good thing!

      • Well, our “accents” sound a little like the people we were around: we are saying our “r”s faster, saying “talkin'”…oh, it’s hard to describe, but it sounds something like the folk from Missouri and Oklahoma. 😀

Some say we have accents (Minnesotan, Southern, English, etc.), others don’t. We just attempt to speak correctly! 🙂

      • OK. 🙂

      • EVERYONE has an accent. It’s just people in your general region don’t notice as quickly because they talk the same way.

        I’m sure I probably have a Minnesoooootan accent… 🙂
