21 Letters to the Editor

Southern Gospel Journal welcomes letters to the editor. We will post the most thoughtful and insightful submissions. Ground rules: Don't attack or belittle groups or fellow posters, or advance heresies rejected by orthodox Christianity. Do keep comments positive, constructive, and on topic.
  1. The player for the clips from Gold City’s “Somebody’s Coming” state that it is releasing November 15.

    • Thanks, and updated. I started this series toward the beginning of this year … I wonder if there has been a single post in the entire series where the Gold City CD has not been listed!

  2. Somebody’s Coming is available on iTunes NOW, I just bought it!

    • The first single or the whole album?

      • The whole album! The single, “Peter, James, and John” was up yesterday, and I got that. Today i searched Gold City just for the heck of it, and the whole album was there.

      • Thanks! I just bought it, too. Might as well get it while I can, in case anything else happens!

      • For sure. So far, I’m really impressed with Jerry Pelfrey. He sounds very similar to Ivan Parker, and at times reminiscent of Guy Penrod. Great singer.

      • Even though previous singers have had talents of their own, Gold City didn’t need the next Michael English – it needed the next Ivan Parker. Here’s hoping this lineup sticks together for a while!

    • I got excited and almost clicked over and bought it, then remembered I pre-ordered! Oh well… I can wait a little longer!

  3. On page 9 of this month’s SN, it says the Dixie Echoes’ “Live at Silver Dollar City” CD is available now, but I can’t find it on their website.

    • Josh,
I just found out that the album is not available yet, and is possibly another 4-6 weeks away.

      • Too bad. I have come to quite like Mike Jennings’ voice, and I can’t wait for the first CD featuring him to come out! 🙂

      • False advertising! lol

      • Yeah, lol. But you never know, Stewart may put up downloads a couple weeks before they have physical copies of the cd. He’s done that in the past. We shall see.

  4. On October 18th, Colet Selwyn released his self-titled CD. If you are unfamiliar with Colet, watch this (starts at 1:15): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaCRa39FAAw

The CD is available on iTunes.

    • Correction: The title of the CD is “Life Is Great”, not self-titled.

      • Thanks! I only list upcoming releases here, but thanks for the link!

  5. Hmm…the Greater Vision album sounds interesting. Any idea where I can get more info on that? Also, what exactly does “independent” mean? Are you just saying that they record at a lesser-known label?

    • Independent means that they release it themselves.

For more information on it, sign up to get their email newsletter. 🙂

  6. The Taylors “It’s Christmas” around Nov 10th

    • Thanks, namroom! I’ve just added it.
