Sony’s Thoughts: His Yoke is Easy

“Come to Me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke on you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest to your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).

I’m one of those people who find myself stressed and overwhelmed at times. It seems there is always more to do than I seem to have time to do, yet it all needs to happen somehow. This month, God brought the above verses to mind, and I’ve been reminding myself that His burden is light. Sometimes we put burdens or requirements on ourselves that God never intended us to have. Other times, we may be doing what He’s called us to do yet, instead of resting on Him and allowing Him to do these things through us, we try to do them ourselves. This is not good. Burnout is a real thing but is not something children of God need to experience.

If you find yourself constantly stressed and not enjoying life, ask God to show you why. Are you taking on more than you should? Are you too busy trying to achieve that you’re not taking time to bask in His presence and refuel? Focus on resting this week. Not necessarily physically but in the Spirit. I believe you’ll see a difference and, although your habit may be to be constantly on the run without pausing, it’s a habit I’d suggest breaking. With God’s help you can.
