  1. Nice haul over the next couple of months.

The Gaither one is a compilation of previously recorded material, in case anyone was wondering.

  2. Any further info on the June ORB release?

    • Looks to be yet another compilation (one of way too many) from the Skylite years (1963-1966). I wanna know how these songs keep getting released in so many versions (legitimate and bootleg)….are the masters simply public domain? There’s no way every single distributor is paying any form of royalties on them to the publishers….

      • It is strange that mostly the same material from the Skylite masters is used when there are several other Skylite songs ignored. I am unsure if only those masters survived the fire, if Gentry leases them really cheap, there were copies out there or exactly how they decide that. What I do know is that a huge percentage of Oaks gospel styff on compilations are from the Skylite era and most of those in the past several years seem to touch a lot of the same material when other songs from the Skylite era has been ignored.

Occasionally you will find compilations from the HeartWarming years or Columbia years, but nearly as often. Even more rare are the compilations or re-release of the United Artists or other gospel material (although :”In Concert” and “Master Showmen of Song” have shown up in a few things with “In Concert” itself being a re-release). Also, “The Sensational Oak Ridge Boys From Nashville, Tennessee” (Starday) too has shown up some as well.

      • I imagine some of them have been remastered to CD quality, but others haven’t.

  3. So The McKameys project was pushed back? Is this the entire project or just the physical release?

    • Entire, I think. This will make it coming out the same month as the Inspirations project, which, given fan base overlap, is a great combo! 🙂

      • The Inspirations & McKameys releases will be just in time for their annual singings, the McKameys’ Hometown Sing & the Inspirations’ Singing in the Smokies. It works even better considering that each group performs at each of the concert series.

      • Great points!

    • The McKameys’ website and facebook pages still indicate a May release. Will this definitely not be released until June? You guys are right about the timing; Hometown Sing will be a great time to have a new project out.

  4. Any idea on when the next Gaither Vocal Band CD might come out? Do you know of any plans? It’s been since 2010 if you don’t include the children’s album from 2011.

  5. The Inspirations Have delivered a great new cd; they’ve got samples at crossroads!

    • It is great, but it’s technically not released yet – I’m thinking it ships next month. (It’s that or July.) 🙂

      • On Crossroads,it’s release date says June 19,and I did forget to note it has not been released.

      • No problem! Just wanted to clear it up for any onlookers!

  6. It’s funny, but when you came to Ohio to watch The Inspirations with David Ragan and Dallas Rogers,I was also there- I live only about 3 miles from there!

    • Really? That was one stellar concert! In fact, it was my favorite Inspirations concert I’ve ever been to. I’ve been to some other good ones, though, now that I only live about an hour and a half from their home base in Bryson City!

  7. Yeah,i wuz only about 10 at that time…after we bought the Son Came Down,i really enjoyed them!

    • I’m not sure if that’s my all-time favorite Inspirations project, or just my favorite from the last 20 years. It’s certainly up there, though!

  8. Well the thing is,I never really knew about them until we got that particular CD.

    • Well, that’s a pretty good introduction!

  9. Yes,it is still one of my favorites though.

  10. I like your Inspirations cd reviews, could you do another one for their upcoming release?

  11. OK Thanx.
