An Excellent Resource

If you are a Southern Gospel fan who, like me, lives in an area where major Southern Gospel artists rarely come, you will probably find to be a breath of fresh air. [EDIT, 6/7/12: Broken link removed.]

This website, the Internet home of the INSP TV Channel, features on-demand Southern Gospel music programs. Among the highlights I discovered in my wanderings around the website were the 2006 Singing News Fan Awards, various groups’ sets from the 2005 National Quartet Convention, and special Christmas programs featuring the Old Time Gospel Hour Quartet, the Collingsworth Family, and other Southern Gospel artists. These videos are high-quality videos; you probably don’t want to try this on dial-up. [EDIT, 6/7/12: Broken link removed.]

I do have one question for anyone who watches the Singing News Fan Awards ceremony. The Perrys had a track malfunction which forced them to repeat part of the song. On the video, however, the song goes off flawlessly. Now it is clear that some of the song, at least must have been from the Fan Awards, because Roger Bennett and Janet Paschal can be seen just off-stage, ready to present the next awards. Where did the cut occur?

4 Letters to the Editor

Southern Gospel Journal welcomes letters to the editor. We will post the most thoughtful and insightful submissions. Ground rules: Don't attack or belittle groups or fellow posters, or advance heresies rejected by orthodox Christianity. Do keep comments positive, constructive, and on topic.
  1. Thanks for the info on, Daniel. I will definitely check it out!

  2. If memory serves correct, the Perrys “track issue” occurred during the 2005 Fan Awards, not during 2006 when Roger and Janet were hosting.

On another note, the NQC footage available via has been linked from the NQC website and labeled “NQC TV” since early 2006. Look for more sets from the 2006 main stage to be added in the near future.

  3. Yes, the NQC TV link was tipped me off to exploring the rest of the site, where I found quite a few other items worthy of note (like the Fan Awards).

David Bruce Murray’s report on the 2006 Fan Awards mentions the Perrys’ track malfunction as happening this year: [EDIT, 6/7/12: Broken link removed.]

  4. Yes, that was in 2006…they may have had a problem in ’05 as well, but not on the song “His Name Was John,” which is the song I’m assuming you heard.

I should still have a copy of that broadcast on my hard drive. Unfortunately, it’s inside of a laptop that bit the dust. If I can retrieve it, I’ll either send you a copy or post a link where you can hear it.
