This is’s 3000th published post. As I did at the 1000-post and 2000-post milestones, I want to pause regular programming for a minute to thank all of you who join in the discussions in the comments area. If I was just talking to silent readers, instead of talkingΒ with engaged readers, there’s no way I would have even made it to 1000, let alone three times that number. Thank you!

Interesting statistics:

  • I have written 2,778 of the 3,000 posts. The others have been written by: Sony (160), The Garms Family (24), my siblings (15), and a variety of other columnists and guest columnists (23).
  • 43,582 approved comments (all-time)
  • 2,938,323 unique visits (since a server move in April 2009)
  • 3,310 average visits per day this month, up somewhat from the usual since the month has been filled with big storiesΒ (six high-profile group changes, two group launches, Lily Fern Weatherford’s retirement, and Tracy Stuffle’s stroke).
  • 206 countries’ residents have visited this site. Top 10: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Brazil, South Africa, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Norway, Australia, and Germany. Bottom 12, tied at one visit each: Burundi, Cuba, Eritrea, French Guinea, Gibraltar, Greenland, Guinea-Bissau, Laos, Monaco, Montserrat, Tajikistan, Timor-Leste, and Yemen. (That’s not counting about a dozen more that have never sent a visitor).
  • 76% of visitors use Windows, 10% use Macs, 8% use iOS (iPhone/iPad), 3% use Android, and 1% use Blackberry.
  • The top five sites to refer visitors here: Google (544,093 visits), Yahoo (69,348), Bing (55,770), SoGoRadio (40,509), and Facebook (27,825).

It’s been a great journey so far. Thank you!

Southern Gospel Journal welcomes letters to the editor. We will post the most thoughtful and insightful submissions. Ground rules: Don't attack or belittle groups or fellow posters, or advance heresies rejected by orthodox Christianity. Do keep comments positive, constructive, and on topic.
  1. Congratulations on the milestone, and may the Lord bless you with many more as you do your part to advance the Kingdom through this blog.

    • Thank you! And thank you for being the third-most-active commenter over the last six months, and especially for your comments on the Books of the Bible series! πŸ™‚

  2. Congratulations. you can credit it to being single, you have a lot of time to write. I don’t recall you saying that you have also written a book or two.

    • Thank you! Yes, being single does leave me with lots of time to write. I’d be perfectly happy to have less time to write just as soon as I find the right young lady … though I hope and plan to keep posting some even then!

  4. try this again…LOL…Daniel…Congrats on the 3000. I have laughed, Cried, morned and rejoiced reading your Blog all these years. Your the first thing I read every morning after I get up. Keep on writing. as for the wife…wait on God to send one your way…I ran out and grabbed the first one I could find and It didn’t end well. God will send one your way if it is in His plans for you and only then will it be His will. Again Congrats

    • Thank you! Yes, I’ve seen enough people who wished they waited that I know the importance of waiting for the right one!

  5. Congratulations, Daniel. You are doing wonderful work for Kingdom Enterprises! You are a great friend to Southern Gospel Music, but…even closer to home, you are a great friend to me. You’re the best! πŸ™‚

  6. You the man! I love several of the sites, including Brians, Aarons, and Lynns, but all of them will agree with me that you are able to keep it fresh and POSITIVE every day! I also enjoy Sonny’s thoughts!!! Keep up the GOD work!

    • Thanks for your encouragement! I’m a daily reader of each of those sites, and love what they’re doing!

      • Don’t forget Lauren! She’s kinda new on the SG scene, but she’s already one of the best!

      • Yes, I do enjoy her posts, and I’ve linked to her posts and videos on many an occasion!

      • Big WHOOP for Lauren, and I also love Steve’s site!! I enjoy reading all the blogs, including DBM, the southern gospel yankee, Burke’s Brainwork, they’re all a little bit different, but Daniel its amazing that you can post every single day!! How you do it is a mystery. πŸ™‚

      • Thanks! A big part of it is – see my response to an earlier comment – that I don’t have a TV, so I entertain myself by reading books and writing blog posts instead. πŸ™‚

      • Well maybe it also helps that this is part of your job, so instead of distracting you from work it kind of IS your work. πŸ™‚

      • Even though I work in SG, this site is still my hobby. πŸ™‚

      • Still, your job is SG music promotion right? I call this site promotion! I see your point though. πŸ™‚

  7. Congratulations, Daniel! This was one of the first Southern Gospel blogs I came across and I’ve enjoyed your positive commentary across the years. Keep writing. You are a fantastic ambassador for the music genre I love most. God bless!

PS Just keep us in the loop when you find that special lady! πŸ™‚

    • Thank you!

As to the PS – do you mean to keep you in the loop to tell you all once I find her, or to keep you all in the loop on Southern Gospel posts once I’ve gotten married? πŸ™‚

  8. Congratulations Daniel. It takes some doing to keep the site fresh daily. You have learned what many website admins need to learn, and that is the fact that if a site is updated frequently, people will visit frequently. I enjoy the SG Blog.

    • Thanks, Dan!

From day 1, I knew I wouldn’t be the best writer or the writer with the most/best connections. (I’ve made more friends and connections over the years, of course.) But what I thought I could bring to the table was to post something every day, six days per week. And, through the years, I’ve only ever missed one or two days. (The power was out for more than 24 hours!)

  9. Congratulations on your achievement Daniel!

You probably know this, but I’ve subscribed to the RSS feed, so as not to miss a single post or comment. Keep up the good work.

    • Thanks, John! There are ways that I can see how many people subscribe to an RSS feed, but I have no ways of knowing who, specifically, they are.

  10. Daniel-

Feel like we’re old friends even though we’ve never met. Thank you for your friendliness, fairness, and professionalism. I never have to walk on eggshells when I visit Southern Gospel Blog and that’s a tribute to your personal standard of what a Christian website should and shouldn’t be. Visiting each day is like coming home and that’s refreshing I think for all of us. May the Lord bless you in your continuing faithfulness to His call.

    • Wow! I’m thrilled that visiting here is like coming home! Thank you!

Of course, yes, I do delete comments regularly that don’t belong here. But there wouldn’t be quality discussing here unless there were also people – like you – who contribute thoughtful, quality comments. I greatly appreciate it!

  11. Hi Daniel , congratulations !! I try to read every day. You are up to date , passionate, knowledgable , sincere, fair, and entertaining. My husband is always surprised with all I know in the gospel world. I tell him , it’s Daniel Mount!!

    • Thank you so much! I am afraid that, a lot of the time when I am entertaining, the entertainment factor is unintentional! πŸ˜›

  12. Daniel, Keep up the good work!! I read it every morning when I get to work! Your’re amazing!! πŸ™‚ God bless!

    • Thanks! It has been so cool to see several first-time commenters jump in here! πŸ™‚

  13. Congratulations, Daniel. So many have already said what I wanted to tell you. Rest assured that I never delete one of your messages without at least first checking the gist of the message for the day. I love getting all the up-to-date info from you. Don’t know how you can do it all, but somehow you do it. Keep it going, Bro!

    • Thanks! I’m not sure how I’ve done it, either. I’ve written about all sorts of other things before and since, but nothing has held my attention like this has.

  14. Keep it up! I drop by here daily. Love the interviews you’ve done with SG artists!!!

    • Thanks! I love doing them! Taking the hours to transcribe them … now that’s the hard part!

  15. Way to go, Daniel! As has already been said, this is a daily stop for me. Plan on it being for some time! Thank you for all you do!

    • You’re welcome, and thanks for the encouragement!

  16. WOW! Congrats Daniel! I know that your blog has been so entertaining, informative, and encouraging to read! I know that God will continue to use you for many more years! πŸ™‚

  17. Hey Daniel! Congrats and great job making it this far!

Like others have mentioned, I too have been here since the start, and I keep up daily through Google Reader. It’s been a great help and awesome source of information on the latest news and insights on the Southern Gospel world. Your post make a great reference from time to time when I talk to others out our favorite genre.

Even though we’ve never met in person, I’m happy to claim you as a friend! As always, keep up the great work!

    • Thanks, and very cool! I’m happy to claim you as a friend, too! (And remember, we did videoconference once!) πŸ™‚

  18. One word: wow. :O Congratulations! BTW, been missing the CD reviews. πŸ˜‰ Any idea when you’re gonna start posting those again?

    • I had reviews done and ready to post the last two weeks; news stories bumped them. They’ll be back this Friday, if nothing bumps them.

  19. Congratulations, Daniel, from all of us!

After we found, we have spent many hours reading the discussions, news, and reviews as a family. The past two/three years of reading your blog has taught us a lot about the genre we sing in and love. And not only has it connected us with the Southern Gospel world that sometimes seems very far away from us here in Minnesota, but has also given us a great friend (you!).

Thanks for letting us be a small part of this great blog. But all thanks/praise goes to God for bringing us here in the first place and giving us the opportunity to make some friends in the Southern Gospel cyber world!

Blessings on all you do here – may the next 3,000 posts be a joy for you and all of your readers!

    • TGF,

One of the absolute best parts of this site is the friendships it has sparked, and y’all are somewhere very close to the top of my many blessings! I appreciate your friendship and your contributions to this site!

P.S. As to being “a small part”β€”just say the word and you can be a bigger part. πŸ™‚ πŸ˜›

  20. Congratulations Daniel! I have enjoyed all 3,000 posts. Okay, there were 7 I didn’t read…j/k. It is a wonderful tribute to you and your dedication to keeping us all informed.

    • Thanks! There have been seven long enough that probably nobody read to the end!

  21. Congratulations Daniel,

I look at this site several times a day and enjoy reading it very much. I like the fact that you don’t allow garbage to be posted on here anywhere. You are a very intelligent young man and I have learned a lot from your thoughts and opinions so I just want to say Thank You Daniel for using your God given talents and sharing them with all of us! I hope you reach 3,000,000 post!

    Blessings To You,

    • Joe,

Thank you! At the rate of a post per day, I should complete my 3,000,000th post when I am 8,237 years old. Maybe there will be computers in the New Heaven and New Earth. I don’t know about that part, but I sure wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some Southern Gospel! πŸ™‚

  22. I don’t do a lot of commenting here but ,i come here often, and hang out , and learn lots of interesting tidbits of SG information.
    Praying for continued success .Congratulations!!!

  23. Congratulations Daniel on the milestone. This is a favorite read for me daily. So many great topics and like Mr Barker above said, always fresh material and positive. We appreciate all the work and writing, my personal “Keep up with the SG world Blog” favorite…

  24. Congratulations,Daniel!!!! You do such a wonderful job with this site and I really appreciate being able to come here each day for your news and views!

    • Thanks! And, likewise, I so enjoy reading your concert reviews and watching your videos!
