Worth Knowing

  • The Southmen Quartetโ€”the group with which Tim Riley sang before and after his first stint with Gold Cityโ€”has signed with Mansion Entertainment and is preparing a May 2013 release.
  • [UPDATE] Jason Crabb was recently featured on Fox Newsย (hat tip, Tyler).

Worth Watching

Lake Gibson Church will be livestreaming free video of a Dixie Echoes concert at 6 PM Eastern Standard Time this evening and of a Jerry Goff and Little Jan concert at 6 PM Eastern Daylight Time tomorrow. Are there any other livestreaming Southern Gospel concerts this weekend?

Also, here’s a video of Eric Phillips’ last night with the Mark Trammell Quartet (hat tip, Josh):

  1. Oh, my word! That’s a BIG pulpit!

    • That was my first observation as well!

  2. Over 90 people have been saved during The Lake Gibson Saturday night concerts since January! This is so wonderful!

  3. Wow!! Beautiful!!!

  4. At first glance, the screencp of the vid looks like the other three are sitting at a giant table or judges bench.

Meanwhile you missed out on an important piece of SG information…It’s a special day Daniel ๐Ÿ˜‰ j/k I’m just messin with ya’. It’s not that big of a deal haha.

    • I don’t have a habit of posting about anyone’s birthdays here – even Mark Trammell’s, Gerald Wolfe’s, or Michael Booth’s. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Who are they? lol ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • People anyone who *actually*, regularly reads this site would know about well. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜›

  5. I wanted to attend this concert in a big time way! Thanks for a glimpse of this evening! Love Eric and loved him singing with MTQ. Going to miss him so much but pray for God’s blessings on him as well as MTQ!!

  6. Greater Vision is 9 likes away from 20,000 likes on Facebook. If you’re on Facebook, but haven’t liked their page yet, do it now!

    • Both on facebook and here, the first time I read this, I read it as “Greater Vision is like 9 away from 20,000”. ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Surely you know that my grammar isn’t THAT bad! ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Like totally.

  7. Good to know someone still reads my site…first pingback or comment in three months lol

    • ๐Ÿ™‚ But I’m pretty sure it isn’t the first link I’ve sent your way in three months!

  8. Concert tonight in Shelby, OH at First Lutheran Church at 7pm by the Dixie Melody Boys

    • I wish I was within driving distance!

      • Great Concert Tonight by one Classy Quartet!

  9. do they have a replacement for Eric yet?

  10. Gospel Music Today has posted a video of Gold City in Oklahoma singing “I’m Not Givin’ Up” with Robert Fulton singing tenor.

(Not sure if this will link correctly, as it’s a Facebook video link, but you can check out Gospel Music Today’s FB to see it.)

  11. Heading out for the sold out Booth Brothers concert in Lancaster, PA…….cant wait!!!!

    • I’d love to hear what the big response moments of the evening are.

  12. What a song!

  13. Welcome to the Family, Secret Room, Still Feeling Fine, He Saw it All, Sail On received the biggest responses. Sang 23 songs (by my count). The Booth Brothers did a GREAT job. Paul Heil was the emcee, but he said very little and freed up plenty of time for the BB. Very good mix of music and testimony, with the focus on signing. The folks in Lancaster realy loves the BB and supports them several times a year with big crowds and alot of product sales.

    • Neat! There are some groups where you can absolutely count on certain songs being the ones with big responses. But with groups with as broad a repertoire as the Booth Brothers or Greater Vision, you just never know. There are any number of songs in their pocket (or, if you prefer, track machine) that can bring down the house. So it’s always interesting to hear which ones they pick!

  14. Who sang tenor and bass for the Dixie Echoes tonight?

    • George Shelton, Jr. filled in on tenor and Jordan James held down the bass.

      • Daniel, who is George Shelton, Jr.?

      • Aaron would be better to ask (it was his comment you were replying to), but I believe he’s filled in with them before.

      • Daniel is correct; Mr. Shelton filled in over the summer. I posted a couple of links in the Craig Thomas/Jordan James departure thread that feature him on tenor, but here they are again:

      • Thanks guys!

  15. Have you seen any of these?

  16. Aw man. I was really hoping Eric would make a few months more. He always manages to leave the band right before they tour out to California.
