Derrick Selph leaves Brian Free & Assurance

Derrick SelphBrian Free & Assurance has announced┬áthat, after nearly ten years with the group, baritone Derrick Selph is coming off the road. The group commented: “He has been such an amazing part of this ministry for almost 10 years, and he will be greatly missed. As many of you know, Derrick and his wife Jennifer are expecting their second child, and he feels that he needs to be at home more. He will be greatly missed because we truly are family but we all want him to do what he feels he needs to do in this situation.” Selph will remain with the group for several more weeks, during the transition.

The group is accepting applications (audio clip, bio, picture) at P.O. Box 1909, Douglasville, GA 30133, or brianfreemusic@comcast.net

  1. Sad to see him go! Who’s out there on the “free agent” market they could replace him with? Maybe David Ragan could be a possibility?!

    • That would be a change of pace both for David and the group, yet as crazy as it sounds, I could actually see it working!

      • Or Tyler Vestal?

  2. I just saw Brian Free and Assurance at the Gold City Reunion Concert in Lancaster PA on Friday night. I wish I knew so I could have personally thanked Derrick for his ministry. I am sure that the Lord will honor and bless Derrick for making his family a priority…there is far too little of that in the world today.

  3. Aww. Sad to see him go! But can completely understand having that need to be with family! Praying for BFA during this transition.

  4. Sorry to see Derrick leave Brian. Both Derrick and his brother are great singers. Maybe in time they will resurface. Derrick left BFA once before to go to school to learn another occupation and he then came back. Praying for Derrick and Brian in these next few weeks as Brian gets a replacement. Derrick will be hard to replace but know Brian will find another great singer.

  5. Bummer. He had my favorite song on the last song. Hoping for another great guy, not just a good singer. Gonna be hard to match Derrick in that category.

  6. IMHO, David Ragan could sing any style of music and would be a great fit with BFA. He would also bring class and integrity with him, just like Derrick had. I would be really excited to see him with BFA and think the fans would love it! Anyway, I wish him all the best with whatever God has planned out for him. And, rest assured, He DOES have a plan!
