9 Letters to the Editor

Southern Gospel Journal welcomes letters to the editor. We will post the most thoughtful and insightful submissions. Ground rules: Don't attack or belittle groups or fellow posters, or advance heresies rejected by orthodox Christianity. Do keep comments positive, constructive, and on topic.
  1. On average, I wonder how many times Gaither releases multiple items just before the holiday season. I’m picturing this: It’s the end of November, you’re walking out of a Cracker Barrel. It’s all decked out for Christmas. You remember that in a couple of weeks you’re going to your Aunt Sally’s and she always gets you something. You never have any clue on what to get to her. But you know she loves the “old songs”. So you pick up a copy of “Gaither” something. Genius.

    • …the kind of genius that made him the most financially successful living figure in our genre, and quite possibly the most financially successful of all time.

      • Which is exactly right! I admire Bill Gaither tremendously , not only for his musical prowess but also for this immense talent — As for the others about to ‘drop’ I look forward to The Cathedrals! I suppose the only thing that irks me a bit is the constant ”best ofs’ .. never was a fan, no matter who produces them!

  2. Any word when the GVB Hymns cd is due out?

    • I don’t think a date has been set yet. I could be wrong.

      • Someone asked Michael on Twitter when it will be out and he said “next year”.

  3. I was going to ask the same question: what do you know about a 2013 GVB album? Is there any information online about it, like a song list or anything? I haven’t been able to find anything via google.

    • Song list, titles, and other final information are often not released until two or three months before the album’s release date.

  4. I know the Jubilee group (GV, L5 & BB) is in currently recording an Acapella Christmas project…is there a release date?
