Video of the Day: Joel Wood

Last night, I came across a video of the Mark Trammell Trio’s new tenor, Joel Wood, singing “Safe on the Glory Side”:

Overall, it’s quite similar to Eric Phillips’ rendition, with one exception—Wood omits the yodeling on the final “walkin’.” But he sings a nice, clear straight tone in its place.

The same user also posted a video of Joel singing “Hide Thou Me” here.

  1. I can’t wait to hear what he does with his own material and isn’t singing stuff that was intended and arranged for Phillips. It’s always hard to hear what kind of singer someone is when they’re doing someone else’s material.

  2. I missed Sony today. 🙂 I suppose everyone is getting ready for NQC.

    • In fact, I think she’s already in Louisville.
