Saturday News Roundup #44

There haven’t been an overabundance of news stories lately. There have been a few big ones—Billy Blackwood joining the Blackwood Brothers and the Southern Gospel Grammies announced—but I’ve already covered them earlier in the week.

Worth reading: Burke’s Brainwork has another interesting entry in its recording oddities series. Tim Parton has been doing a commendable job of keeping the Legacy Five blog up to date with weekly (or better) posting. If you haven’t added it to your regular reads, it’s worth doing.

Upcoming CD Reviews:

  • December 14: Home For Christmas (Mark Trammell Trio)
  • December 21: Peace On Earth (Mark Trammell)
  • December 28: I’d Rather Have Jesus (Dixie Echoes)
  • January 4: Grand Finale: The Ultimate Concert Experience (Crabb Family)
  • January 10: Then and Now (Olivia Collingsworth)
  • January 18: Decennial (Dove Brothers Quartet)
  • January 25: What You Hear is What You Get (Randy Byrd)
  • February 1: DVD Review: The Best of the Jubilee Years (Dixie Echoes)

2 Letters to the Editor

Southern Gospel Journal welcomes letters to the editor. We will post the most thoughtful and insightful submissions. Ground rules: Don't attack or belittle groups or fellow posters, or advance heresies rejected by orthodox Christianity. Do keep comments positive, constructive, and on topic.
  1. Daniel, thank you for reporting the news, even if there aren’t any ‘breaking news reports’. I always enjoy your posts.

  2. Randy Byrd’s CD is like it says – What you hear is what you get!!

It is wonderful – great voice/great piano with all the fun noises with it!! I know everyone will enjoy it for a fun/drive home cd.
Puts a smile on my face – can see JC Clark playing with Randy standing near the piano singing and laughing and maybe even some tears as they are worshiping the Savior through song.
