CD Review: It’s Time (Dale & Cheryl Golden)

Dale & Cheryl Golden have been performing together for fifteen years. However, it wasn’t until surviving cancer in 2000 that Dale felt the urge to begin writing songs. For their last recording (Summer in My Soul) and this one, It’s Time, he has written all the songs for the project. Golden seems to excel at mid-tempo songs with strong lyrics, “Land of Peaceful Healing,” “A Crown of Righteousness,” and “The Glory To Come” heading the list for this album.

Stylistically, the album is straight-ahead Southern Gospel;. Vocals and tracks were recorded at Lamp Music’s studios in Georgia; however, Lamp doesn’t have their label on the project, and it appears to have been released independently.

The album’s a decent effort on its own merits. But its strongest points is its songs; several, particularly the ones named above, would fit at home on projects by national groups.
