Announcing … Southern Gospel World

For over two years (since December 2007), one of my best friends, Sony Elise, has been a contributor to this blog. (Fortunately, she’s not leaving.)

What she is doing is launching her own site, www.southerngospelworld.com. Basically, it got to where she had more to say than fits in one day . . . and your encouragement has given her the confidence that you’re coming to read what she has to say, and not just because it’s my site. This is with my full encouragement; in fact, I helped her set the site up.

She will be continuing her weekly devotionals here. She’ll be posting thoughts on other topics, such as concert reviews and reviews of CDs, on her new site.

Sony has put in a lot of work over the last few years to win herself a loyal fan base, and has earned this next step. For my part, I’m cheering her on, and just glad she’s still willing to contribute here!

16 Letters to the Editor

Southern Gospel Journal welcomes letters to the editor. We will post the most thoughtful and insightful submissions. Ground rules: Don't attack or belittle groups or fellow posters, or advance heresies rejected by orthodox Christianity. Do keep comments positive, constructive, and on topic.
  1. Congratulations, Sony and best of luck in this new adventure!

    • Thank you, Brady. Daniel made me out to be a bit more confident than I am but I feel like God brought it all together so it’s in His hands and I’m trusting Him to give me daily wisdom.

  2. Congratulations Sony. Glad you have started your own website. Hope it doesn’t take so much time that you don’t have time to post in other places. You’re going a great work for the Lord. I still would like to see a book published with your Thoughts/Devotioonals.

As we say in the south, You Go Girl.

    • Bobby, you don’t know how much your words blessed me. Keep praying and maybe that book will happen yet. 🙂 If it does, you’ll be among the first to know. And don’t worry. I’ll never be too busy for my friends.

  3. Congrats, Sony! I really like your new site and I’ll be checking it daily.

    • Now I’m nervous! 🙂 No. I really appreciate your encouragement and support. I’m not sure I’ll ever be quite the review writer you are but at least I have something to aspire to. Love you, Diana!

  4. I’m so excited for you, Sony, and SO proud of you! What a big step this is! I know full well that you can do this! You’re going to have a wonderful site! I agree with Diana. I’ll be checking it daily. You have been such an encouragement to me and countless others. I’m glad God opened this door for you and placed this desire in your heart. Congratulations!

And Daniel, thanks for helping her set it up!

    • No problem. 🙂

    • Well, Meagan, if anyone doesn’t like the site, I’ll blame you. With a note that encouraging, how could I not go for it? 🙂 You’ve been a great encouragement to me the past year as well. Now when I see two people have been to my site, I’ll know who it was: you and Diana. 😉

  5. Sony, I’m glad that Daniel is cheering you on. Now, would that be complete with pom-pons? Wow – wouldn’t that be a sight? 😉
Seriously, blessings to you on this endeavor. I just know it’s going to be great!
Plus, now Daniel has some competition for “Favorite SG Blog!”

    • I know better than to go up against Sony in a likability competition! I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I’m not that stupid!

      • Yeah. He knows he’d win. I’m more worried people will read my blog and think, “She should have stuck with once a week.” 😉 I am so grateful for those of you who take the time to read my writing and I pray I will continue to write in a way that lifts up and edifies the Body of Christ, regardless of the topic.

      • No, I know you’d win!

I think people tolerate my writing style because I work hard to always be on the lookout for new stories and have interesting features up. But I think people just love your style naturally. 🙂

  6. Daniel and Sony, I have been reading both of your posts for some time now, but I rarely comment. Just by reading your posts I can tell you both have integrity and dignity. Although you will probably never receive any honors, you both deserve them. 🙂

    • Thank you!

    • Bless you, Jeff, and thank you so much for reading our posts.
