Is Jesus Your Master?

Then I met the Master. Now I belong to Him.

Really? Tell me about Him. Is he gentle or rough? Kind or fierce? Why did you choose to follow Him, or are you following Him? Maybe you were wholehearted starting out but after a while you didn’t see the point. After all, He doesn’t expect you to be at His beck and call all the time, does He?

So many who call Jesus “Lord” and “Master” seem in reality to be nothing more than slackers, children trying to get by with the least amount of work they can to get by. That doesn’t seem like what the posture of a servant should be. He said that many will call Him “Lord” and He will say, “Depart from me. I never knew you.” How frightening that would be! “I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.” (Psalm 84:10)

More like the Master I would ever be
More of His meekness, more humility
More zeal to labor, more courage to be true
More consecration for work He bids me do

I would encourage you, the next time you sing about your Master, to think about what you’re singing. Is Jesus really your Master?
