Sony’s Thoughts: A Challenge to Fathers

“Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he won’t depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)

You may have heard the saying, “Being a daddy doesn’t automatically make you a father” and there is a lot of truth to that. It’s easy to father a child but it’s more of a challenge to take time for your children, to listen to them, and to give Godly guidance. My hat goes off to you fathers who have taken the time to truly be a daddy to your children. Your children may be grown now or they may be in the process of growing up but they still look up to you and they need you to be a Godly example to them so they know how to parent their own children. God bless you in this role God’s given you. Continue to look to Him and He will direct your paths.

  1. I like the alternative rendering to that proverb:

    “….when he is old, it shall not depart from him.”

    Some of our kids are on the opposite side of the world, as are many of the children of the Lord’s people. Not all of them have remained true to the principles instilled in childhood.

    “He shall not depart…” may sometimes seems to be a reproach to a parent grieving over a wayward kid.

    What a comfort to know that the Spirit of God can still bring to mind, that which, “shall not depart from him”.

    May God bless, even today, the sighs and secret prayers of all who have been bringing loved ones before the throne of grace.

    After generations of bondage Jehovah’s word to His people was;

    “I have see their afliction…I have heard their cry…I know their sorrows; I am come down to deliver them”. (Ex3v7)
