Gaither Thanksgiving DVDs song list released

Though sound clips are not available yet, the song list for the two Gaither Homecoming Thanksgiving CDs/DVDs has been posted. The song list for Count Your Blessings is here, and the list for Giving Thanks is here.

The DVDs have a street date of September 28, and the ship date of September 13 means Gaither should have them in hand (and thus, in all likelihood, on the table) at the National Quartet Convention.

Interestingly, there was some discussion that this was going to be a Cracker Barrel exclusive, but evidently that deal has fallen through, as this will be released to stores on the release date.

  1. So are we going to play a matching game now with the artists and the songs? πŸ™‚

  2. It appears that one of them is a DVD and the other is a CD…they have basically the same song list, with the CD adding a Spanish version of “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”.

    • Aww . . . πŸ™

That “Great is Thy Faithfulness” is a Steve Green feature. I wanted to see that one!

But maybe it’ll make the extras.

    • Never mind…your link for Giving Thanks is to the CD…you should change it to the DVD version, which has a completely different song list.

I think the website has the song lists mixed up or something.

      • Yes, the link is messed up, but I searched around and found the correct ones anyway. πŸ™‚

      • Weird, since they worked a few hours ago. I’ll go fix them now.

      • Well, Daniel, I’m wondering if it’s not EMI who got it wrong. According to what I’m looking at right now, (I’ve got tabs open highlighting both the CDs and DVDs)the CDs have longer “track” listings and include credit rolls….

      • That could be. I’m suspecting I caught this listing very early – the one has a cover up and the other doesn’t!

  3. From early reports, there was enough footage for four DVD releases, so why would anyone announce that a Cracker Barrel deal “fell through” – with the outrageous success of the first Homecoming Cracker Barrel CD/DVD and the Christmas ones that followed, the Thanksgiving one will likely sell even more.

    • Bill Gaither tends to release videos in twos. Who knows . . . maybe we’ll still see it, but I’m suspecting it will either be a highlights compilation from this two-DVD set or a Cracker Barrel – branded version of one or both of these.

  4. Daniel, since many people use your site as a source of news, I hesitate to put up anything that might be incorrect, but if you’re interested, I compiled what I think the DVD and CD listings are…just based on logic. I won’t post them unless you say so though.

    • Go for it – just say that it’s a guess, and we’re set. πŸ™‚

      • Okie dokie!
***Here is my best guess for what songs will be on the upcoming Gaither thanksgiving-themed releases, “Count Your Blessings” and “Giving Thanks,” both the DVDs and the CDs. The list I’ve provided below is of the DVD listings. If a song has “NO” next to it, that means I don’t believe it will be included on the CD of the same name.

      • Okie dokie!
This is my best guess at the song listings in the upcoming DVDs “Count Your Blessings” and “Giving Thanks.” If the word “NO” follows a DVD song title, it is because I don’t believe it will be included on the CD of the same name.

      • Well, I tried, but I think the comment goblins ate it. πŸ™‚

      • Grrr! I shall track down and vanquish the comment goblins!

  5. The links aren’t working for me either, Daniel. Any thoughts?

  6. They’re working for me…

  7. Based on JayTee’s list, should we do artist guesses?

[He indicated “no” one the ones that don’t appear to be on the CD of the same name.)

    Any others?

Oh, and I’m thinking I saw the Broken Ones on a list somewhere.

    • Bring Him Home will be David Phelps and I Will Sing Of My Redeemer is going to be a tenor trio with Larry Ford, Gus Gaches, and David Phelps. And I’m 99% sure that “All Over the World” will be the Booth Brothers version since it’s on their brand-new album.

      • For some reason, I was thinking Steve Green sang two songs, though.

      • He does. The other is “Total Praise,” remember?

      • I do, now that you say so! πŸ™‚

Given that, it would totally make sense that “All Over the World” would be the Booth Brothers’ rendition.

    • Oh, and “Breathe Deep” would be Guy Penrod of course.

    • Count Your Blessings – The Martins
Thank You Lord For Your Blessings on Me – Jeff & Sheri
      What a Difference You’ve Made… – Ronnie Milsap
      Ellsworth – Jason Crabb
Smoky Mtn Rain – Ronnie Milsap
My Tribute – was Andre there?
I Will Sing of My Redeemer – Guy?

Interested in Sometimes Alleluia & I Just Came to Praise the Lord. Old Imperials songs…curious as to who sang them.

      • Given Bill’s propensity lately for showing clips of the dear departed singing…

I Just Came to Talk With You, Lord – Dottie Rambo
Thanks To Calvary – Cathedrals (George)
Remind Me, Dear Lord – Eva Mae?

And…where is I Know How To Say Thank You? Curious that, of all the songs on the new cd, they didn’t do that one? For a Thanksgiving-themed dvd? Hmmm….

      • “I Will Sing Of My Redeemer” is a trio with David Phelps, Larry Ford and Gus Gaches…

    • I wonder if “My Tribute” will be Kim’s piano arrangement…?

  8. Daniel,
I am not sure they will be available at the quartet convention because w/EMI you have to sign an agreement not to sell before the street date. They (EMI) are real sticklers about this. So we may bave to wait till the actual release date. Too bad….

    • Gaither has had other titles available early at NQC. Perhaps he makes a contractual exception for that one event.

    • Street date is an agreement for retailers. Artists (particularly Gaither) have sold their own product directly before street date for years.

  9. BTW, you can go to the chordant (EMI) site and click on new releases and scroll down to Sept. 28 and click again and you will get the titles to both Count your Blessing and Giving Thanks, as well as some of the artwork. It is still alittle early, as of yesterday they didn’t have all the artwork up yet. But you can see which titles will be on each of the dvds/cd’s. Hope this helps.

    • That’s actually the link I gave in the original post – though it wasn’t displaying correctly for everyone, I take it.

  10. Oops, I just saw you had already covered that Daniel, I’m sorry to repeat!

    • Not a problem! I just didn’t want people confused and thinking there was another site with more info.

  11. Regarding Cracker Barrel, I wouldn’t assume the deal “fell through.” I would just assume someone in Gaither’s PR department got over-zealous with the word “exclusive.” It wouldn’t be the first time.

    • Good point. I’d almost guarantee you’ve hit the nail on the head with that one.

  12. From Daniel’s May 12th post:

    Known songs so far:

Great is Thy Faithfulness – Legacy Five
Grande es Tu Fidelidad (Great is Thy Faithfulness in Spanish) – Steve Green
The Broken Ones – Talley Trio
Sometimes Alleluia – Brooklyn Collingsworth, Reggie Smith, Wesley Pritchard
I Will Sing of My Redeemer – Larry Ford, David Phelps, Gus Gaches
I Could Never Praise Him Enough – Greater Vision
    Total Praise – Steve Green
He is Here – Gaither Vocal Band

  13. Interesting that Please Forgive Me was included, but Michael didn’t sing that day. Hmmm…..

    • Maybe Reggie or Marshall filled in for him. I know both of those guys were there that day.

      • Hello. Jason was there.

      • See below. Filler filler

  14. My assumptions for Count Your Blessings:
Thank You, Lord, For Your Blessings On Me – Jeff & Sheri Easter
Up To Zion – Ronnie Millsap
What A Difference You’ve Made In My Life – Ronnie Millsap
    Sometimes Alleluia – Brooklyn C., Reggie S., Wesley P.
    No Shortage – Isaacs
    Breathe Deep – Guy Penrod
Hard Times Come Again No More – Isaacs
    Ellsworth – Jason Crabb
Please Forgive Me – Jason Crabb (GVB backup)
He Is Here – Gaither Vocal Band (Wes solo)

    • No Shortage?? Isn’t that an old, best-forgotten Imperials song? πŸ˜‰

      • Looks like it. Isaacs also did it on their “Almost A capella” project.

    • Hmmm. I hadn’t thought about Jason Crabb singing it. I think I’d prefer a sans Michael English GVB rendition myself…

      • I’m just going based off the fact that its another Jason Crabb song right before that. Seems like it’d be a smooth transition.

      • Oh. Yeah, you’re probably right. Oh well…

    • Really looking forward to the Brooklyn/Reggie/Wesley trio. Sweet! I already know it’s going to be good and I don’t even know the song…

  15. My assumptions for Giving Thanks:
In Everything Give Thanks – Charlotte Ritchie
You Are My All In All – Gaither Vocal Band (David solo)
Great Is Thy Faithfulness – Legacy Five
Grande es Tu Fidelidad (Great is Thy Faithfulness in Spanish) – Steve Green
Bring Him Home – David Phelps
I Will Sing of My Redeemer – Larry Ford, David Phelps, Gus Gaches

    • I’m *really* looking foward to “I Will Sing of My Redeemer.”

  16. My assumptions on this project: We’ll find out eventually. πŸ˜‰

  17. Could “Count Your Blessings” be the one by the Collingsworth kids?

    • Hmm. It could be – I hadn’t been thinking of that song. That would be an unexpected surprise!

    • If it’s the first track, I would guess not. I would envision the first track of a Homecoming as being mellower—so it’s probably going to be the hymn of the same name.

  18. I Want to Thank You – Karen Peck & New River

    • Of course! Can’t believe I didn’t catch that one yet.

  19. I checked back with the emi website again this morning, and it appears that the track listings match up now.

  20. Well it all sounds good to me! I for one, can’t wait!

  21. Looks like the ‘Tenor Trio’ Gus Gaches, Larry Ford and David Phelps made the cut! “I Will Sing Of My Redeemer” is gonna be great!! It CAN’T be anything but awesome!!! πŸ˜€

  22. Wow, I thought I was the only one who tried to figure all this out! lol

  23. All I know is from the looks of the songlist, it doesn’t look like Ann Downing made the cut once again. I know there are many new and young artists, but somtimes I think they should feature some of the people who have been there since the beginning. I have noticed in the more recent projects they have that several people are featured over and over again, which loses my interests alot of times, especially when they take a song that someone did so well on another project and give it to someone else. Maybe it’s just me, and it may sound like I’m complaining, but I’m just curious as to why it has been this way.

  24. Daniel and well anyone else now on EMI they have the track listing along with artist features…=)

  25. This is very odd… now they’re saying that “I Will Sing of My Redeemer” is going to be a duet with Larry Ford and Shane McConnell. I thought it was going to be a trio with Larry, Gus, and David…?

And didn’t somebody say David was going to sing “Bring Him Home?” Maybe I missed it…?

    • Watch and find out for yourself NSF: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0jf0oFGodw

      • Ah, thanks Josh! πŸ˜€

Hey, who is this Shane McConnell guy anyway? I’ve never heard of him before. He’s amazing!

    • Sweet! Thanks Josh.

Hmmmm… methinks Ronnie Milsap shouldn’t have touched “What a Difference You’ve Made in My Life.” That song is evermore B. J. Thomas’s…

New GVB tearing it up on “All in All” sounds good, highlight so far.

Missing Ernie and the boys… this should be one of the only Homecomings Ernie’s missed, no? I’ve spotted him in quite a few of them, first with the Cats, then with SS.

      • I’ve never heard B.J. Thomas’s version, but Ronnie Milsap’s version from 1977 is sensational. I doubt he sounds all that great singing it now at his age.

  26. FYI- Apparently, there were some copyright issues with David Phelps’ singing “Bring Him Home”, so it did NOT make the final cut for the DVDs/CDs. πŸ™

  27. The list of songs does not list Ronnie Milsap. Did he make the final cut for the CD/DVD?

    • He has two songs on “Count Your Blessings” DVD.

  28. Wow! I’m watching the preview of Count Your Blessings on Gaither.com, and Wes Hampton completely steals the show. He sounds even better on “Greatly Blessed” than he does in the studio. And “He is Here…” words fail me. The sheer, transcendent purity of his voice is just astounding. Way to go, Wes!

    • Looking back at that performance, the thought came to me: They should have Michael and David sing backup for Wes more often! LOL. πŸ˜›

    • Thanks for the heads up about watching online
