Tracy Stuffle’s heart surgery postponed

Yesterday, Tracy Stuffle had a heart attack, and open-heart surgery on five blocked arteries was scheduled for this noon. This had to be put off because tests suggested there may be an aneurysm in his heart.  According to Tracy’s son J.K. Stuffle (via the Twitter feed of a longtime family friend) Stuffle’s surgery has been postponed till first thing tomorrow morning.

UPDATE [8/13/10, 5:28 AM]: The aneurysm was small enough that the surgery can go forward. The doctor confirmed that they will be doing surgery on five blocked arteries. The main concern at this point is that Stuffle’s temperature goes down several degrees—it’s presently at 100—because it has to go down for the surgery to go forward.

UPDATE 2 [6:39 PM]: According to his new CaringBridge page, he made it through surgery safely.

Earlier coverage is here and here.

  1. Oh, poor Tracy. It’s so hard to be strong when they tell you what they are going to do, but then to have to wait longer is worse. My prayers are with him and the family.

  2. Everyone…please pray for Tracy’s “full” recovery.

  3. Tracy,

We love you and will keep praying for a speedy recovery. Keep focused on God, for HE is the GREAT healer.

    Blessings,
