Old Paths rehires Brandon Barry

According to concert reports from this weekend, (EDIT, 8/3/11: Broken link removed)ย The Old Paths has just re-hired Brandon Barry. He had left the group a year or two ago to join the Stamps Quartet. After a brief stint with Trent Adams ended in Adams’ departure, the Old Paths decided to become a trio.

Prior to that lineup change, they were a hot, rising quartet; the lineup and format changes hurt that momentum. Barry’s rehire should be a boost in the right direction for the group. The future looks bright!

  1. I have to say I am pretty excited about this! The only downer is that they won’t be at NQC this year… Somehow I believe they will be next year, this lineup could hold their own with most of the quartets out there.

    • Only way this could excite me more is if they announced the return of the full band. Welcome back, Brandon!

  2. I saw the headline and seriously thought you said “retires.” It didn’t seem quite like your usual take on news!

  3. Lol @ Amy. (quartet-man wishes he didn’t have to use extra words to make his point. In fact, usually his problem is being verbose. It is sad in this day and age that when he keeps it concise he must add words he never meant to say, just to make his post. It is just about enough to make him not want to post. It also makes him wonder perhaps, if WordPress doesn’t have stock in a word factory. Why, back when quartet-man was a child, although there were stipulations for number of words for homework, but not for fun. What? Are we in in elementary school again? I thought I (oops sorry teacher, I mean he means he) had left those days behind. This sort of reminds him of stretching out said assignments to reach the minimum words. He guesses the skill is still useful. The sad part is, Twitter limits you on not enough words. WordPress limits the other way. He has a dream. he dreams of a day where one has the freedom to use just the right amount of words he feels are needed. No more, no less. Let’s call it the Goldilocks’ dream. Can I hear, umm I mean may he hear an amen?)

    • Amen!

    • Amen! (Aw, sing it with me WordPress… it’s only fair since you wouldn’t let me leave it at an “Amen.”)

      • Daniel has the power!!!

      • …but only when I’m logged in. Often I’m not, and at those times, it bites me as hard as anyone else.

      • So if we email you to get on account, we don’t have to worry about filler words? :lightblub:

      • Oh no, did I seriously do that. I typed it “lightbulub” first, then deleted the wrong u!

      • I wish! Sincerely, I am greatly annoyed by it and would love to work around. It turns out that subscriber-level accounts still have the minimum post length. ๐Ÿ™

      • I guess the solution is to give us all moderator accounts. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • Hey, there you go! We can do it on a volunteer basis, like at the forums. Right, Daniel? Right?? Um, right…?

      • Sorry – even moderator-level accounts have those annoying restrictions.

  4. I’m very happy to see Brandon back as well and I’m glad to see others are excited, too!! The Old Paths is an absolutely wonderful group and Brandon sounds better than ever with them. I’ll have some youtube videos posted of their Sunday morning concert in the next day or two.

  5. Thank you for your overwhelming responses to my return!! I’m looking forward to seeing all of you again in the near future!! Things are already in the works for a new recording soon….stay tuned!!!

    • It made my day!
