Sony’s Thoughts: A Time For Everything

The weekend of May 10 & 11 saw Scott Inman’s wedding, Mark Trammell’s birthday, and Dottie Rambo’s Homegoing. Ecclesiastes 3 says, “To every thing there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die.” Emotions are interesting. It’s easy to quickly feel overjoyed or depressed depending on the circumstances we’re going through. I have learned, though, that in everything, God is in control. He ordains the date of each birth and the date of each death. He puts a love in our hearts for the newborn and comforts us when dealing with the loss of a loved one. For those who know the Lord, we have the assurance that we will see our loved ones again. No matter what we are going through, God is so good and worthy of our praise.

3 Letters to the Editor

Southern Gospel Journal welcomes letters to the editor. We will post the most thoughtful and insightful submissions. Ground rules: Don't attack or belittle groups or fellow posters, or advance heresies rejected by orthodox Christianity. Do keep comments positive, constructive, and on topic.
  1. That is so true! And so comforting. I was at Liberty University not too long ago, and Johnnie Moore preached on the book of Job in campus church. I remember one thing he said. He said: “We don’t need to know why, all we need to know is that God is on His throne, and He is good.” That really blessed me.

  2. Amen! Thanks for this wonderful reminder. You’re a true blessing.

  3. Casey, that is so true. I’ve heard Chris Freeman talk about how people often say, “We don’t understand it now but we will when we get to Heaven.” She brings out the fact that, when we get to Heaven, the last thing on our minds is going to be what happened to us on earth. I have a feeling we won’t be able to do anything but praise God for His goodness!

Meagan, thank you for all your encouragement. I’m so grateful for this opportunity to write.
