Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Since there is no way I could possibly top it, let me just point you to the finest piece of Christmas writing I’ve seen all season: Christmas and Code Adam (on Stuff Christians Like). It is well worth the time to read—yes, even on the busiest day of the year.

Southern Gospel Journal welcomes letters to the editor. We will post the most thoughtful and insightful submissions. Ground rules: Don't attack or belittle groups or fellow posters, or advance heresies rejected by orthodox Christianity. Do keep comments positive, constructive, and on topic.
  1. Very unusual illustration – which has the real “Chrsitmas Story” allegorized very nicely!

I do like the “CODE ADAM” in the origin of the story – wonder who thought up the name for the Wal-Mart rescue? There must have been a biblical notion lurking in the sub cconscious at least!

Reminds me again, of the old Don Francisco song mentioned a few days back.

We do need to stop, amid the Wall-to-Wall Marketing of the Shopping Season, and remind ourselves of what we, as believers, should be appreciating at this time. Not only the Christ Child, and the Crib, but the Cross, and His Coming again – perhaps before the New Year dawns?

    • Part of what I so love about this is the irony of what is probably the best new allegory for the season coming out of Wal-Mart, of all places!

  2. It’s cute… I’m not quite as enamored with it as everybody seems to be, but it’s nice. 🙂

  3. Code Adam is a partnership with John Walsh of America’s Most Wanted and Wal-mart. Other retailers have also become involved. It is named after Walsh’s son Adam.
