Sony’s Thoughts: Praying for Tracy Stuffle

I’ve been sick the last couple days and away from Internet so I’ve been unable to keep up with the updates on Tracy Stuffle but I have been praying. I know how easy it can be as we begin to get positive reports to slack off on praying and breathe a sigh of relief but I want to encourage everyone not to do that. We need to continue interceding until God brings the complete healing that we’re asking for. As I pray, I ask for healing for Tracy and strength for Libbi and that God’s presence will be obvious. He’s always there but sometimes, in the midst of storms, we fail to recognize Him.

Father, I pray for a special touch on Tracy right now. I pray that he will feel Your presence. I pray that he will feel Your strength. I pray that You will heal his body and receive the glory that You deserve. God, we know that everything happens for a reason. I pray that Your purposes will be fulfilled through this. Thank You for the privilege of bringing our requests to You. Thank You that You hear our requests. Thank You for Your love and care. You are a rewarder of those who diligently seek You and we are diligently seeking You now, Father. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Sony’s Thoughts: Closer to Jesus

“I wanna get so close to Him that it’s no big change on that day that Jesus calls my name.”

“Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed, Lord, to the cross where Thou hast died. Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, to Thy precious bleeding side.”

“Closer to You, Lord, closer I pray. Help me draw closer to Your will today. It doesn’t matter what others may do. I want to draw closer to you.”

Can one get too close to Jesus? Absolutely not! I pray this year finds me drawing ever closer to my Savior on a daily basis. I want to be so close to Him that it is no big change on the day He calls my name. I told someone last night that, how close we are to Jesus is how much strength we will have to face persecution if it comes. We can’t afford not to be close to Him.

I think of Enoch who walked so close to God that he eventually walked into Heaven. Wouldn’t that be a wonderful feeling?! May this be all of our prayers. “It doesn’t matter what others may do. I want to draw closer to You.” Amen!

Sony’s Thoughts: When My Will Becomes His

The will is a powerful thing. Especially first-born and only children tend to have a strong will. We want what we want when we want it, and we don’t always want to wait for what we want. Sometimes what we want isn’t what God wants for us, though, and then we have a choice. Do we whine and complain or push to get it anyway, or do we trust Him, knowing that He knows what is best for us? As we draw closer to the Father, we begin to see more clearly. We still don’t always understand but we know that all things work together for good to those who love Him, those whom He has called for His purposes. Eventually, as we hit the place of complete surrender, our will begins to change and nothing matters but pleasing the God who loves us much more than we deserve.

This is my goal: to get so close to Him that all my desires are being met because they’re His desires … where it’s no longer I living but Christ living in me. I believe this is the point we find true joy in its fullness.

If you have a desire that God doesn’t seem to be granting, it may be a timing thing or it may be that He has a better plan for you. Keep drawing near to God and ask Him to make your desires conform to His. I’ve no doubt He will do so if you ask Him in sincerity.

Have a blessed week. Keep shining for Jesus. It won’t be long and we’ll be leaving here. Praise the Lord!

Sony’s Thoughts: Let Me Fall

Last evening, as I was getting ready for bed, I was listening to Kenny Hinson sing, “Let Me Fall.” As I listened and prayed and sang, the following prayer began to form.
Father, let me fall in love with You all over again. Until I learn to love You with everything in me–spirit, soul, mind and body–I can’t truly love anyone. Yet love is the greatest commandment. Without love, I am a sounding brass and tinkling cymbal. Just noise in the midst of what could be a beautiful orchestra. I want to produce beautiful music for You. I want to be a true friend and Sister to those You have put in my life. I want to walk so close to You that it is no longer I who live but You who lives in me speaking to those I encounter on a daily basis. Thank You, Father, for loving this poor girl who was in desperate need of salvation before You found me. Words cannot express my gratitude but I’m thankful that You can read the words of my heart. I love You so much!
Our relationship with God is the most important one we have. Focus is often put on human love and relationships but until we love God, we can’t truly love our Brothers and Sisters, husbands and wives, etc. No one on earth will ever love you near as much as God loves you.
As we approach 2013, this is my prayer. I want to fall in love with Jesus all over again. I want to remember how sweet it was when I first began to walk with Him, how strong the love was and the reassurance that I am His and He is mine. I want to consciously remember that He is by my side. As I go through each day, I am walking with Him. I’m so grateful that, when I reached out to take His extended hand long ago, He never let go. He has been and always will be faithful. Thank You, Lord!

Sony’s Thoughts: God is Faithful

I hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving on Thursday. I had a wonderful day celebrating God’s goodness with my family. The last few years have been hard in a lot of ways (Do you ever wish satan would sleep sometimes?) 🙂 but it doesn’t change the fact that God is faithful. His love is immeasurable. His hand is not short. Everything happens for a purpose to those who love Him. Our job is simply to be faithful and follow and, one day, God will lead us out of this valley, never to return.

Don’t stop praising. I think praise is just as important in ruining satan’s plans as prayer is. I’m glad there is a day where Christians all over the country set aside the day to thank God but thanksgiving should characterize our lives. We should not go more than a day without stopping to thank God for His many blessings. In fact, I think it’d be great if we never went more than a few hours without acknowledging Him. How different would our world be if more people praised instead of complained?

That’s my challenge to each of you today. It’s been a while since I’ve said it but I am so thankful for each of you who read my blog posts each week. May God pour out His blessings on you as you serve Him. They may not be material blessings but, if you look around, I’m sure you will find that He is doing just that.

Sony’s Thoughts: Drinking From My Saucer

The last couple days, I’ve been listening to J.B. Spencer sing Michael Comb’s song, “Drinking From My Saucer.” I love that song. “I’m drinking from my saucer for my cup has overflowed.” That should be the experience of every Christian. If we’re honest, God’s blessings are more than we can count. Sometimes we can only see the negative things in life but there are so many more positive things. I’ve enjoyed reading posts by my friends on Facebook who are naming a different blessing every day that they are thankful for. This is something we should be doing continually.

For myself, there are more blessings than I can think to name but, off the top of my head, I’m grateful for warm weather which is unusual for us in November. I’m thankful for my family and for people God puts in my life right when I need them. I’m grateful for Internet which allows me to stay in touch with people across the country. I’m extremely thankful for God’s love and continual mercy. Yes, I truly am drinking from my saucer for my cup’s been overflowing for a very long time.

Sony’s Thoughts: If Ever I Loved Thee

“My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art Thou. If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.”

My heart wells up with gratitude for God’s goodness this morning. His blessings are immeasurable, His love overwhelming. “And my song shall ever be how marvelous, how wonderful is my Savior’s love for me.” I feel unworthy of His love yet He loves me just the same.

Without Christ, life would be hopeless but, with Him, we have every reason to rejoice. I’ve been walking with God over 20 years now but I can testify to the fact that He truly does get “sweeter as the days go by.” His goodness isn’t measured by how good life is going, but the fact that He never leaves or forsakes me is reason enough to love Him.

I’ve heard that, in marriage, the feeling of love can wane. I’m so glad my Father’s love never decreases for me. I find my love for Him continually increasing as well.

“In mansions of glory and endless delight, I’ll ever adore Thee in Heaven so bright. I’ll sing with the glittering crown on my brow, ‘If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now.'”

Sony’s Thoughts: Give Your Burdens to Jesus

Do you ever feel like you have nothing to give? Yet a follower of Christ never has the option to quit … so we press on. I never cease to be amazed that when my strength is gone and I feel like I can’t give another ounce, He comes in and continues to give in the midst of my weakness.

We were never promised an easy life but we were promised that, as we give our burdens to Him and let Him carry them, that He would take them and make them light. If you have a burden that is too heavy for you to carry, give it to the One who can “make each burden light appear,” as the writer of “Is Not This the Land of Beulah” puts it.

You don’t have to go through life alone. If you’re having a hard time releasing your burden, find a trusted friend who can help you. I know this can be hard to do. It seems people are often busy or untrustworthy but God can provide another Believer whom you can trust to continually point you to Jesus. If you are discouraged and defeated, your effectiveness is being hindered. Don’t allow yourself to get to that point. Keep crying out to God to lift your burden, give you strength to go through your valley, and to bring you through victorious so that you can be of even greater service to His Kingdom.

This is not a playground; it’s a battlefield. With God’s help, let’s fight the good fight, rescue souls from the enemy’s clutches, and prepare ourselves for the victory which is just ahead. We will win if we don’t lose heart.

Sony’s Thoughts: Where’s the Abundant Life?

It’s sad when someone who has been raised in a Christian home walks away from their parents’ faith. I believe equally sad, however, are those who come to know the Lord and then stop growing, settling instead into a complacent existence. Christ died so that we could have life and that we may have it more abundantly (John 10:10). I don’t see many who appear to have that abundant life.

The fact is we live in a world laden with burdens but Jesus told us, “Be of good cheer. I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). If He is a part of our lives, our countenance should reflect that. As the saying goes, “If you’re happy, notify your face.”

Christ did not die so that we could continue to live without hope. He died “That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish” (Ephesians 5:27). Holiness is not preached in the church like it should be but we are to live holy, victorious lives. People assume there is no fun in living a Godly life but I can testify to the opposite. Living for Christ is totally fulfilling. Sin may seem pleasurable for a time but it ends in death. When you are filled with the Spirit, you experience a joy and peace you’ll never find outside of Him. You have a reason to live for a change. Your search for fulfillment is over.

I’d like to see the Church radiating with Christ so that even the world will notice them in Walmart or at restaurants. It needs to start in our homes but, as we begin to show His love to our families, we will begin to shine with His love when we’re out and about. As we allow Him to do a work in and through us and, as we repent for our complacency, that is when God can fully use us and when we have a chance to see genuine revival in our land.

Sony’s Thoughts: God Has a Plan

This has been an interesting week. Not the one I would have chosen but I’m grateful when, during a difficult time, I can still see God’s hand at work. Mom and I are traveling and, to make a long story short, our car is in the shop out of state. Thankfully we did not have a seminar scheduled that evening but we had to keep heading to our next destination in order to not cancel our appointment yesterday. The first rental place was out of cars so we went to the next which only had two cars left. We chose one, loaded our books and luggage from our car to the rental and hit the road.

At one point, as we were in the mechanic’s waiting room, I felt like crying. I’d wanted to be at our next destination, putting my feet up and reading or catching up on emails. That wasn’t God’s plan, however, and I kept praying to find joy in the situation. As He always does, God brought songs and Scripture to mind to help remind me that He is in control.

I confess I still don’t know what God’s plan is but I know He has one. I pray that I will be faithful to trust Him and rejoice in Him even when things don’t go my way. I still don’t know how God is going to work everything out with our schedule this next week but I know He will do so. He is a faithful God, and I praise Him for that.
